JOB DESCRIPTION:
Green Scene Landscaping, Inc. is looking for 8 Full-time, Landscape Laborer positions at 954 E.
Remus Rd., Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858 and multiple worksites within Mecosta, Kent, Isabella, and
Clare counties.
JOB PURPOSE:
Duties include to landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand or power tools or
equipment. Performs a variety of task, which may include any combination of the following: sod
laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, and instillation of
mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall unit, walks, or water features.
DUTIES:
The job will require the worker to: gather and remove litter; use hand tools, such as shovels,
rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes; operate vehicles or powered
equipment, such as mowers, tractors, skid steers, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters,
pruning saws, or rototillers; water lawns, trees, or plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses,
or watering cans; prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws;
spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or
automatic sprayers or spreaders; care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding,
grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls; follow
planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers or
foliage; trim or pick flowers and clean flower beds; attach wires from planted trees to support
stakes; plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, or shrubs and
apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools; mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or
edgers; rake, mulch, and compost leaves; decorate gardens with stones or plants; provide proper
upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, or other grounds features; haul
or spread topsoil or spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place; install rock gardens,
ponds, water features, retaining walls; build forms and mix and pour cement to form garden
borders; dispose of trash or waste materials; trim trees or other vegetation; treat greenery or
surfaces with protective substances; maintain equipment or systems to ensure proper
functioning; cultivate lawns, turf, or gardens; clean facilities or sites; install equipment to protect
or support trees; plant greenery to improve landscape appearance; remove debris from
work sites. Workers will prune or trim trees on the ground by cutting away dead or overgrown
branches or stems to increase fruitfulness or growth. Workers will use hand tools such as
chainsaws, pruning shears, pruning saws, or branch cutters; and Shovel snow from walks,
driveways, or parking lots, and spread salt in those areas. The job will require the worker to be
exposed to weather/outdoors, noise, hot/cold temperatures and wear common protective/safety
equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and/or hearing protection. The job will require the
worker to have attention to detail, thorough in completing work tasks, integrity, and be
responsible.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The job will require the worker to perform physical activities that require considerable use of
arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, extensive
bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling required. Must be able to lift at least 50
pounds.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Entry level and requires supervision. No education or prior work experience required. The
standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Work on Saturdays is
required when necessary. The worker may be offered more than the stated hours per day,
depending on weather and other conditions. Extreme heat, cold, rain, or drought may affect exact
working hours. Workers will be paid no less than $12.57 per hour with at least 40 hours per
week. Overtime hours may be available depending on need and will be paid at $18.86 per hour.
The employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Workers will
be paid on Friday, bi-weekly, by check/direct deposit.
